”Upon rescuing my dog, Pepper, from Maricopa County Animal Control 18 months ago, I quickly realized that she had been previously abused and neglected.  She was frightened of everything in the world but me.  She would cower and incessantly bark at anyone who came into the house.  This was especially evident when a man was around.  I proceeded to try and build her confidence through obedience training and pet massage.
